FAMU Football: Boston Richey removes unauthorized locker room video

Tallahassee rap artist Real Boston Richey has removed his music video for his song, 'Send A Blitz.'

A portion of the video was filmed in the Florida A&M Rattlers' locker room at Galimore-Powell Fieldhouse without university permission, prompting head football coach Willie Simmons to briefly suspend all football-related activity and the institution to launch an ongoing internal investigation into the unauthorized video.

Richey released the video, which had FAMU players in it, on July 21. The rapper sported team apparel and helmets with Rattler branding as he performed his song which included explicit lyrics.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Richey said that "Out of respect for FAMU, the video for 'Send A Blitz' is no longer available.

"I have a long-standing, amicable relationship with the FAMU community and its athletic teams, and I hope to continue to build with them in the future," Boston Richey, real name Jalen Foster said.

"This video was not meant to be disrespectful in any way, but to highlight my love for the school and its teams," Richey, who performed ahead of the Rattlers' homecoming game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff a year ago said. "Sending lots of love to the Rattlers for a great season and go stream 'Send A Blitz.'"

The incident led Simmons to suspend all football-related activities for three days, noting that the video was unauthorized and its content was not consistent with the university's core values.

FAMU's internal investigation into the video is through the school's Office of Compliance and Ethics.

The Rattlers began fall training camp on Friday after the football-related activities suspension was lifted by Simmons and FAMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes on Monday, July 24 following a team meeting to address the video.

The Tallahassee Democrat attempted to reach Sykes on Friday.
