Intuitive Collage

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, join Sarah Bedford of Expressive Arts MI for Intuitive Collage at 6 p.m.

This expressive arts therapy class focuses on the process of intuitive collage. This transformative process helps connect with your inner/outer world and life challenges in a low-stress process of creating and reflection. No materials or experience needed, unless you have magazines with images that bring you delight. Just bring your own personal sense of playful curiosity.

Seasonal Foraging

On Saturday, Sept. 16, join Joan Prentice and Monica Strieter on an Art in the Loft Excursion at 10 a.m.

Art in the Loft is extending its classroom out into the community to enrich student experiences to explore various artistic modalities from natural parks to brick and mortar. What could be better than spending time outdoors submerged in natural beauty and resources, if you know where to look!

Whether you are looking to live a more self-sustained lifestyle or looking for healthy alternatives to build your immune system, this is the class for you.

Equipped with a wealth of knowledge and life experience to share, Board-certified Naturopathic Joan Prentice RN, ND, CMT, along with wildcrafter Monica Strieter will be meeting students at Besser Natural Area where you will meet plants in their natural habitat as you learn how to properly identify, utilize to their best ability and harvest responsibly as you walk the beautiful trails along the Lake Huron shoreline.

But first, students will meet in the Art in the Loft culinary classroom for a hands-on lesson in making personalized jars of freshly harvested elder berry syrup — a great natural elixir to boost your immunity as we enter the months that end in BRRR.

smART

On Saturday, Sept. 16, join Mariah Brancheau for Saturday Morning Art (smART) at 10 a.m.

This children’s art class is designed to introduce students to the elements of art utilizing different mediums. Each session is sure to entertain and each student walks away with a completed work of art!

In this session, Mariah Brancheau of the Lovely Little Lettering Co. will walk students through a hand-painted autumn wonderland, all while sharing a variety of brush strokes, tips and tricks, with acrylic on canvas as your medium.

This is a fun guided paint class that sparks creativity, encouraging you to apply the techniques that you have learned into future projects!

Kids in the Kitchen

On Saturday, Sept. 16, join Jess Krawczak for Kids in the Kitchen: After School Snacks at noon.

Kids in the Kitchen students will enjoy colorful and creative hands-on culinary experiences, all while learning skills they can share with their family and friends.

In this hands-on session, students will learn about knife handling and safety, how to use countertop appliances and health-minded eating habits when the after-school munchies kick in. Kids will gain confidence in the kitchen in a creative manner to satisfy their taste buds in a self-sufficient manner after school.

Power Cooking

On Monday, Sept. 18, join Jess Krawczak for Power Cooking at 6 p.m.

Join us for a hands-on culinary experience with educator Jess Krawczak, as she guides us through fast and flavorful ways to create meals in advance (perfect for those busy grab-and-go nights)!

From chicken to beef and air fryers to pressure cookers, Jess is sharing all of the tips and tricks to help families eat healthier homemade meals together (her passion)!

Busy nights after school or work, rushing to all of the after-hour activities and back again, no problem. This is the perfect workshop inspiring families on the go!

Modern Calligraphy

On Thursday, Sept. 21, join Mariah Brancheau for Modern Calligraphy at 6 p.m.

Calligraphy is an art form that brings awareness to detail with intentionality, creating rhythm and flow (elevating your message both decoratively and functionally).

In this class, artist Mariah Brancheau of the Lovely Little Lettering Co. will guide participants in the art of modern calligraphy.

Students will learn the basics of hand lettering calligraphy techniques, the upward and downward strokes of the ABCs, while tossing in a few unique phrases, and some simplistic watercolor techniques to give your lettering pieces fun pops of color.

Calligraphy is a historical writing technique with a fun and funky modern twist that you can play with and apply to for years to come!

Corkscrew & Canvas

On Friday, Sept. 29, join Alison Rae Campbell for Corkscrew & Canvas at 6 p.m.

Create your very own painted masterpiece while enjoying a glass of good wine, your favorite microbrew, or N/A beverage as artist and educator Alison Rae Campbell guides you by brush stroke, while leaving plenty of room for creative expression in this wonderful and whimsy citrus rendition.

Experience a fun Friday evening in a creative atmosphere as you sip on a drink and let your creative juices flow in this step-by-step painting class. All skill levels are welcome and supplies included. Invite your friends and join us!

Fused Glass

On Saturday, Sept. 30, join Beth Cox for Fused Glass at 1 p.m.

Explore a unique outlet for your creativity with renowned glass artists and educator Beth Cox. Whether you are a repeat student or have never worked with glass, this class is a great workshop for all skill levels! Come join us in creating two or more vibrant fused glass art pieces, ornaments or pendants. Feel free to bring inspiration images or filter through supplies and see wherever your imagination takes you!

All materials and tools will be provided. Projects will be kiln fired off site and returned to the gallery for pick up.
